While it is commonly stated that the car sold poorly in Spanish-speaking countries do to it's name meaning "doesn't go," thi is both nonsense linguistically, and unsupported by historical evidence. The word "nova" is present in Spanish, with the same meaning as in English. The idea that this distinct single word would be somehow broken up into "no va" is ludicrous. By way of comparison, English Speakers do not confuse the phrase "no table" with the word "notable," which is essentially what is implied in the story of the Chevy Nova.
Additionally, the car sold well in Spanish-spaeaking countries.
